Naked Odyssey 2011-2015
My ‘Naked Odyssey‘ project, making impromptu naked photography a part of all my world travels, started in 2016. During the 20 years before this, there had sometimes been nakedness on my travels, and sometimes it was photographed, but only casually. A few photos from that era are shared below… just for fun.

My third visit to Fuerteventura was a return to Corralejo, staying close to the northwest edge of the dunes. Naked hikes on this occasion included along the coast road from Corralejo to El Cotillo via the little hamlet of Majanicho, where discretion favoured briefly wrapping a light scarf below my waist. Love this island.

On Mallorca I found plenty of room for naked walks in Santa Margalida municipality, along the north coast between Ca’n Picafort and Son Serra de Marina. The area is made even more interesting by an abundance of megalithic ruins, such as Necròpolis de Son Real and those on S’Illot des Porros, a short swim away.

While staying in Pula, Croatia, I took a ferry across to Veliki Brijun. This little island has been home to the Illyrians, Romans and Ostrogoths. It’s been controlled by the Byzantine Empire, the Republic of Venice and Austria-Hungary. It was the luxury summer residence of Tito. And for a time, I found my place there too.

On the west coast of the eastern Cape Verde island of Boa Vista, the capital Sal Rei is to the north, a few tourist resorts occupy the middle, and the south is undeveloped desert with tracks used only by quad bikes. One could walk naked for miles here. So I did.

Back to my beloved Fuerteventura, now in a routine of alternating between north-south-north-south of the island. My base this time was Jandía, from where buses took me to Costa Calma for wanderings on both sides of La Pared isthmus, and to Morro Jable for mountain hiking across to Cofete.

Fuerteventura again, still alternating island ends, so once more based at Corralejo near the fringes of the dunes. Many favourite walks were repeated, including the north coast road for El Cotillo, and from Lajares back to Corralejo. I also took the catamaran to little Isla de Lobos and hiked up its dead volcano.

Time for a return to the Balearic Islands. For this first trip to Menorca I stayed at Son Bou in the middle of the south coast. Away from my southern bubble I got a tour of the island with my dear old friend, John, who happened to be staying at his apartment in Arenal d’en Castell on the north side. Happy days.

After a blissful yoga retreat at Ermita Sant Honorat in Randa, Mallorca, I went my own way for a return to Ca’n Picafort – a retreat after a retreat. Next in 2015: group nude photoshoots in Amsterdam, Gateshead, thence to Edinburgh, plus a fully-clothed tour of Central Asia. In 2016, the real Naked Odyssey began…
